The National Tropical Botanical Garden on Kauai announced a new special art exhibition in its Botanical Research Center titled “Plants of the Society Islands.” Visitors will have the rare chance to see 24-exemplary 18th century prints depicting plants from the French Polynesian archipelago. A part of a larger collection known as Banks’ Florilegium, these legendary prints are made from copperplate engravings and are one of only 100 complete sets ever made for sale when the engravings were retrieved from storage at the British Museum over 200 years after the voyage.
Tasting Kauai has announced a new food tour that explores the cuisine of Kauai’s eastern coastline. The Royal Coconut Coast Kauai Food Tour begins at a family-owned farm where guests sample traditional Hawaiian food and learn about taro farming and the plantation history and culture of the Kealia area. Afterwards, clients sample Hawaiian street food and enjoy tastings at some of the best farm-to-table restaurants on Kauai’s East Side. Tours are designed by Marta Lane, founder of Tasting Kauai and author of “Tasting Kauai: An Insider’s Guide to Eating Well on the Garden Island.”
Hawaii Forest & Trail on Hawaii Island has expanded its 21-year tour operation by partnering its Hilo-based operation with Big Island Trading Company. The new Hilo tour offerings include “Hilo Tropical Wonders,” a small group tour of plantation history and farm fresh treats; “Maunakea Voyage,” a daytime journey to Maunakea; and “Discover Volcano Country,” an exploration through the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
KapohoKine Adventures introduced its newest “Waipio Valley Explorer” tour, leading travelers to experience the northeastern region of Hawaii Island. Led by a professional guide, the two-hour expedition showcases lush and historic Waipio Valley, in addition to stops at waterfalls, farmers’ markets and botanical gardens.

The Fairmont Kea Lani’s new GoPro camera program lets guests capture their most memorable Maui moments. Guests can now rent a GoPro video camera through the resort, which includes a flotation device, memory card, and waterproof housing case to take images of underwater marine life off Polo Beach. Rentals can be arranged through the Fairmont Kea Lani’s concierge desk.
Makena Beach & Golf Resort offers a new way to experience the Makena area with its complimentary resort archaeological tour. In partnership with Pohaku Cultural Tours, archeologist tour guides impart the cultural practices of the Native Hawaiians, discuss historical Hawaiian events notable to the area, and identify the cultural significance of landmarks and vistas viewable from the property, including a preserved section of the Kings Trail on the property.
