Maldives President Resigns, Tourism Remains Stable

Maldivian president Mohamed Nasheed resigned yesterday morning following an extended period of political turmoil, according to CNN. While the United States, Britain, Australia and Germany have all warned against traveling to Male, the capital of the Maldives, the CNN article reports that the tourism industry has remained stable.

The Male International Airport has remained open and hotels are operating as usual.
