Maui Hotel Appoints New Executive Assistant Manager for Rooms

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa has appointed Michael Murphy as new Eeecutive assistant manager – rooms division. 

A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, Michael Murphy launched his career with Hyatt at the Grand Hyatt Washington in 1996. He held various positions including front office and housekeeping before joining the Hyatt Reston as guest services manager and executive housekeeper. In May 2001, Murphy returned to the Grand Hyatt Washington as front office manager. Two years later, Murphy joined the team at Hyatt Regency Chicago as assistant rooms executive, a position he held until February 2005. As rooms manager in the Hyatt Hotels Corporate Office from February – November 2005, he was part of the opening team for Hyatt Regency Jacksonville, DFW Grand and Century Plaza. Murphy was promoted to executive assistant manager- rooms at Hyatt Regency Bellevue in 2005, and took on a similar role at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa in Texas from 2008 until 2010. Murphy has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades including Hyatt’s Rooms Operations Achievement 2007, Manager of the Year 2004 nominee at Hyatt Regency Chicago, Manager of the Year 2002 nominee at Grand Hyatt Washington, and Manager of the First Quarter 2002 and Manager of the First Quarter 1998 at Grand Hyatt Washington.
