Closing out the property’s anniversary are three special events: Meet Marc, Aloha Tennis Days and the 42nd annual Mauna Kea Pro-Am.

Meet Marc: December 2 – 6

Soon after Mauna Kea Beach Hotel opened in July 1965, Esquire magazine immediately named it one of the “three greatest hotels in the world” and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) presented the hotel an Honor Award citing “restrained detailing and fine spatial sequences.” A decade later, AIA placed Mauna Kea on its prestigious America’s Favorite Architecture list.

Marc Goldstein, a member of Mauna Kea Beach Hotel’s original design team from the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, will be on property December 2 – 6. In this rare opportunity, Goldstein will share insight and anecdotes about the challenges and rewards of designing the most expensive hotel ever built 50 years ago. Complimentary “talk stories” and architectural-focused tours will highlight Goldstein’s visit.
