Last month, Sol Meliá Hotels & Resorts relaunched Meliá Cabo San Lucas, renaming the property ME Cabo, making it the newest resort in the company's ME by Meliá brand. These are experience-based hotels catering to adults, featuring a signature Yhi Spa, total connectivity, aromatherapy experiences throughout the hotel and environmentally friendly lighting. ME Cabo's 150 rooms and suites have been totally refurbished, Sol Meliá having completed a multi-million dollar renovation earlier this year.
"For our ME by Meliá hotels, we've created the role of Experience Manager," says Vicente Madrigal, senior director of sales and marketing, Mexico & Central America, Sol Meliá Hotels & Resorts. "The experience manager will explain the new ME by Meliá concept to guests and attend to their needs." Madrigal maintains that each day of a guest's stay will have its own special "wow effect."
"The Level" at ME Cabo features Chic and Loft suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and ocean views. Each room of The Level will come standard with amenities such as breakfast, rainfall shower heads and bath jets, CD and DVD players, an extensive library of CDs and DVDs, surround-sound speakers, iPod adaptors and connectivity docking stations. Those without iPods may request a pre-set iPod with more than 900 songs to use throughout their stay. Superior suites have a large multi-level private terrace and outdoor Jacuzzi.
"Our best rooms are the three Loft and three Chic Suites," says Raul Petraglia Fabrega, managing director of ME Cabo. "Our Energy Suites, which are also part of The Level, are also very special. These are decorated in high energy orange colors, and have a sun deck and Jacuzzi shared by the neighboring suite, making these suites particularly attractive for party lovers."
Standard room features at the resort include free Wi-Fi, CD/DVD player, 26-inch interactive plasma TV, 300-thread- count linen and products by Aveda.
The Living Room is a private lounge that serves as the social center of The Level, where guests can relax and enjoy signature cocktails through room-service delivery, a state-of-the-art home theater, computer work stations and Internet service.
The Passion Club Restaurant & Lounge at ME Cabo offers a variety of experiences, including a patio with sea views and a neon-lit outside lounge with daybeds near a fire pit. All guests of the hotel are offered complimentary access to the recently launched Nikki Beach, featuring poolside Opium day beds, DJs and live musical performances. Nikki Beach was described by the London Observer as "the sexiest place on earth."
The 7,036-square-foot YHI Spa at ME Cabo will include
fitness, hydrotherapy and relaxation centers. The
ME Cabo will have a meeting facility with 1,300 square feet of meeting space and a capacity of up to 110 guests.

"It's true that we don't promote ME Cabo to kids," says Fabrega. "But if a family has an understanding of the hotel, they can then decide if it's for them. Families are certainly welcome."

The ME by Meliá Customer
The psychographic profile of the ME by Meliá customer is not based on age. "For me the buzzword is connectivity," says Madrigal. "Our guests are people who like to be connected. They like good music, a nice restaurant—they like to relax, but they also desire options for fun and nightlife."
Madrigal notes that ME by Meliá is not a brand targeting the lower end of the market. "These are not cheap hotels," he says.
Earlier this year, the ME by Meliá brand launched its resort
product with ME Cancun. The third property in the new portfolio will open in
