This spring, the Canadian city of Montreal, Quebec, will host two brand-new museum exhibitions—one dedicated to archaeology, and the other devoted to couture fashion.
Beginning this April 28 and running through Sept. 28, the Montreal Science Centre will host the world premier of “Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology: The Exhibition.” This unique exhibition combines the story of the famous film archaeologist, including actual film materials from Lucasfilm Ltd, with artifacts from the National Geographic Society and the Penn Museum to create an interactive 10,000-square-foot exhibit.
At the exhibit, visitors are guided on an “Indy Trail” through different archaeological zones, learning to decipher what is fact and what is fiction when it comes to modern archaeology.
Tickets to the exhibit can be purchased online at the Montreal Science Centre website. Prices are approximately $23 for adults, $20 for seniors (age 60 and up) and teens (ages 13-17), $13.50 for children (ages 4-12) and $63 for a family of two adults and two children, or one adult and three children.
From June 17 to Oct. 2, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts will appeal to followers of fashion when it hosts the first-ever retrospective on Jean Paul Gaultier. The French haute couture designer is perhaps best known for designing the memorable bustiers worn by Madonna during her “Blonde Ambition” tour, as well as his over-the-top runway shows. The museum exhibit, “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk,” will highlight Gaultier’s multicultural and avant-garde design influences and style through 120 different haute couture and ready-to-wear pieces made between 1976 and 2011, along with contemporary art and photographs from such artists and photographers as Andy Warhol and Mario Testino.
Admission fees to the Gaultier exhibit range, depending on the day and group size. General admission is approximately $15 for, $12 for seniors ages 65 and older, $9 for visitors ages 13-25 and free for children ages 12 and under. Clients may purchase tickets online by visiting the museum’s website.
