A brand new motorway has been opened in Ireland, linking its two major east and west coast cities, Dublin and Galway.
Friday marked the opening of the final stretch of the new M6 motorway, which was overseen by Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey.
The National Roads Authority has described the event as historic, as this is the first "major inter-urban corridor" in the Republic of Ireland.
