The Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort has put together a unique agenda of autumn activities, balancing a perfect mix of traditional Mexican celebrations and grand takes on American classics, for guests to enjoy during their stay in Mexico this fall.

In September, the resort is celebrating Mexican Independence Day with a fiesta known as El Grito, or, “the scream.” The celebration starts around 6:30 p.m. and runs through the evening, when the pool deck will be transformed into an upscale, relaxed setting with a variety of Mexican food, a local mariachi band, mixology competitions, cooking demonstrations and more before the transmission of El Grito, when the president of Mexico rings the bell of the National Palace in Mexico City symbolizing Padre Hidalgo’s cry of the rebellion that initiated the rebellion of the Mexican against the Spanish.
Experience a tropical Halloween and the Dia de los Muertos (the day of the dead) on October 31 and November 1, 2016. Celebrate Halloween on the 31 with traditional American costumes, then continue the celebration which has been inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO on November 1 and 2. The resort suggests heading to La Quinta Avenida, which will be adorned with traditional Mexican skulls and decorated Mexican marigolds, or “cempasuchil.” Another celebration for Halloween and Dia de los Muertos will also be held October 30 to November 2 at nearby Xcaret Park.
