Family-owned hotel brands continue to expand and improve product on both coasts of Mexico. On the west coast, Mexico Grand Hotels operates two hotels in Los Cabos. Marina Fiesta Resort & Spa is located in the Marina Golden Zone. Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa is a luxury property in the tourist corridor.

“Both are beautiful, but different. They deliver a truly Mexican experience in their own way. Marina Fiesta is very close to nightlife, next to the mall. There’s always a lot of activity there. Cabo is a pretty vibrant place and many guests like that.  Hacienda Encantada is for those who are looking for more relaxation. At both properties, it’s important that guests feel as if they’re at home,” Gabriel Ibarra, sales and marketing director of Mexico Grand Hotels, tells Travel Agent.

A new addition to Hacienda Encantada takes that sentiment to heart.

The Residences are nine new villas that can accommodate up to eight guests in three bedrooms. They’re specifically tailored for families and groups of friends traveling together. Amenities include private pools and hot tubs, a fire pit, expansive indoor and outdoor kitchens and concierge service.

Guests can access Hacienda Encantada's pools, spa (featuring new Mezcal-themed treatments) and dining options.

A number of special events are planned for the upcoming festive season.

“For Christmas, we have special themed nights and menus planned. For New Year’s Eve we have a special show and fireworks,” said Ibarra.

On the Caribbean coast of Mexico, the adults-only Excellence Riviera Cancun has completed renovations.

Rooms feature new beds and decor. Terraces at the swim-up experience have been updated. Dining venues are also enhanced, and now include a tapas restaurant, sports bar, and a coffee house. The Excellence Club Lounge has also been renovated.

And most significantly, the property now includes new Rooftop Terrace Suites.

“The Rooftop Terraces are one of our most popular categories. In total, they’re about 1,500 square feet in size. The second floor has a deck with a plunge pool and a gazebo. We had 15 of the suites. Now we have 40,” David Torres, director of sales for Excellence Group, tells Travel Agent.

Even before the renovations, the property’s location put it at an advantage, said Torres.

“We’re in Riviera Cancun, 15 minutes from the airport. You don’t have to go through the hotel zone, which can be a traffic challenge. The destination as a whole is growing. We’re seeing demand not only from the U.S., but also from Canada and Europe. The British, Germans and even central Europeans are coming here. And, our numbers from Asia continue to rise. The infrastructure continues to improve, which is good,” said Torres.

The Excellence Group Luxury Hotels & Resorts brands include the adults-only Excellence Resorts; boutique all-inclusive Beloved Hotels and all-inclusive luxury brand Finest Resorts.

“We have a brand suited to every traveler. Families enjoy Finest Resorts, though it isn’t just for families per se. Our company has a very clear philosophy of being product and service oriented. That’s reflected in our high repeat clientele and high rankings on sites such as TripAdvisor,” said Torres.
