Norwegian Cruise Line will enlist Norwegian Jade year-round in Europe through spring 2010. This is the first time the cruise line has ever deployed a ship to the region on a full-time basis.
The ship, formerly the Pride of Hawaii, which was switched out of inter-island cruising last month, will begin its maiden Europe season on March 30. The ship was originally scheduled to end its European season this November.
As part of its deployment, NCL is unveiling three new itineraries: 12-day Eastern Mediterranean sailings, nine-day Canary Islands and Morocco sailings and a one-off, 14-day Eastern Mediterranean holiday cruise. All sailings are roundtrip from Barcelona.
“We’ve seen strong growth in Europe,” said Colin Veitch, NCL’s president and CEO. “Our full three-ship fleet in Europe is doing so well that we are now confident in committing a ship year-round to this strongly growing market.”
In making the switch, guests booked on Norwegian Jade’s 12-day transatlantic sailing or seven-, 10- or 11-day sailings from New York between mid-December through April are being offered the opportunity to move their reservations to comparable sailings aboard the Norwegian Gem. NCL is offering full-price protection and $100 shipboard credits per person. It will also pay any differences stemming from hotel or air changes if they were booked through NCL. Guests can also cancel their trip for a full refund.
