Papua New Guinea's Mt. Hagen Cultural Show Dates Announced

The dates for Papua New Guinea's Mt. Hagen Cultural Show, more commonly known as Sing Sing, have been set for August 11 and 12.

The cultural event, which began in the 1950s as a way to improve relations between the various groups and tribes of Papua New Guinea and bridge the gaps in the nearly 800 different languages has become an iconic display of song, dance and tradition where tribes celebrate their facial tattoos, elaborate body paint and ornate headdresses. The event allows the tribes to share cultural experiences and revel in the diversity of cultures among community members.

The event will move back to the third weekend in August for 2013.
