Connect BGI, the North America tour operator forum for U.S. and Canadian based tour operators to interface with Barbados hotel executives and industry partners, concluded its fifth year on Friday, October 16, and was deemed the most successful ever in the history of the event.

"We achieved all of our objectives," said David M. Rice president and CEO of the Barbados Tourism Authority. " It has been a tough year for most of us given the economic environment we are in, but we will emerge from this stronger and more effective in our marketing initiatives. This conference has shown us how committed our partners are to Barbados and how we can forge ahead in 2010 as a leading Caribbean destination."

Over 40 tourism and travel partners participated in the conference at the Barbados Hilton hotel. Participants attended a reception at the official residence of the Prime Minister of Barbados, a breakfast presentation by Philip Wolf, president and CEO of PhoCusWright Inc., and a gala awards dinner at The Crane resort where tour operators were acknowledged for their business to Barbados.
