Playa Hotels & Resorts announced its acquisition of the 540-guest room, all-inclusive Occidental Allegro Punta Cana Resort in the Dominican Republic.
The upscale resort sits on a beachfront parcel of land and features extensive resort amenities. It will be operated by AMResorts and re-branded as the Sunscape Punta Cana Dominican Republic. This purchase is the latest in a succession of acquisitions by Playa Hotels & Resorts throughout the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Since its inception in 2006, the company has acquired 12 hotels in Mexico and the Dominican Republic including another property formerly owned by Occidental Hotels & Resorts, the Grand Flamenco Puerto Plata Resort.
