Popular Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Allied Member Dies

Patricia Ecke-Pas, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s 2002 Allied Member of the Year, died Thursday after a long battle with cancer. Ecke-Pas was 54.

She started her career at The New York Times in 1979 as communications coordinator in syndication sales and became vice president of marketing for syndication sales in 1986, where she was responsible for the marketing and sales of TimesFax. In 1997, she moved to Miami to head the Miami National Sales Office as advertising director. She later joined the Board of Directors of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association “to support the hospitality community and give back energy to the industry that she so dearly loved,” according to her obituary.

She is survived by her loving husband Tom Pas, stepchildren Chantalle and Jerry and Cedric and Tania and grandchildren Jean-Luc, Brita and Isabella; her mother Leonora Liotta Ecke, brothers Tom and John, and sisters Janet, Susan, and Laura.
