The Smetana Days was established as a scientific symposium in 1980. Gradually a musical and theatre program was added to the symposium program. Thanks to culture season and the time of year (the Pilsen music festival is held in the late winter during the entire month of February) concerts, lectures, exhibitions and film screenings during the Smetana Days are held in Pilsen's concert halls, churches, the cathedral, exhibition halls, a cinema and a conference hall.

The One World festival will take place in Prague and other towns and cities across the Czech Republic. Once again around 120 films from around the world will be screened. In addition to the film screenings there will also be discussions, exhibitions, concerts and other events taking place.

Book World Prague is the largest book fair in the Czech Republic and features a rich program of events including a literary festival as well as film and theatre performances of works based on books.
