Qantas Announces More Domestic Departures

Looks like the rivalry between Qantas and Virgin Blue is heating up: The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Qantas will be boosting flight frequencies between the East Coast and Perth as well as using larger planes.

The increase will add 4,300 seats per week to the airline's cross-country load, the article continues, and will include 747 jumbo jets (with flat-bed seats in first class) between Sydney and Perth. The largest increase will be between Melbourne and Perth, the article continues.

Virgin Blue, meanwhile, will begin flying two wide-body A330 aircraft between Sydney and Perth in May, while it is likely to devote another two A330s to the Melbourne-Perth route early next year.
