Qantas Begins Legal Procedings Over A380 Grounding

The New York Times is reporting that Qantas Airways has taken initial legal steps against Rolls-Royce over the grounding of its A380 superjumbo jetliners after Australian regulators recommended further safety checks on the aircraft using the Trent 900 engine.

Earlier Thursday, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau issued an alert after investigators discovered a “potential manufacturing defect” that may have contributed to last month’s turbine explosion on a Qantas Airways flight from Singapore.
