Red Alert Issued In Colombia Following Non-Explosive Volcano Eruption

CNN is reporting that Colombian authorities have issued a red alert, the highest level, for the Galeras Volcano, after a non-explosive eruption occurred early Wednesday.

Evacuation plans are already in effect for roughly 7,000 nearby residents although the volcano is not located in a heavily populated area. Accoridng to the report, as of Wednesday afternoon, there were no injuries or structural damage reported.

The Galeras Volcano is located in the southwestern region of Colombia, near the border with Ecuador.
