The Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, AZ recently completed a dramatic makeover—$12 million worth of expansions and enhancements.
Most strikingly, the renovation created an all-new enclave of 70 rooms that surround an intimate Montavista, a romantic Mediterranean-style courtyard with a tiered garden, reflecting pools and fireplaces.
Also new are the two-bedroom Alvadora Spa Villa and six Alvadora Spa Suites. Suggest these spacious suites to clients who want to enjoy fitness amenities and spa treatments in the privacy of their own quarters. Several in-room spa services are available only to guests of the Alvadora Spa Villa and Suites, including pampering Foot Rituals and the Savasana body treatment.
Design-wise, the new spa suites feature a color palette of neutrals punctuated by splashes of lavender and sage. Mosaic tiles, dark wood floors, leather furnishings, fountains, fresh flowers, fireplaces and color-therapy lamps complete the look. Other in-suite amenities include a soaking tub and steam shower, as well as a built-in therapy table.
Alvadora's concept is based around the ancient energy philosophy of chakras, and that theme is reflected in the new suites. Each morning, guests are given a daily intention card, stone of the day, and a suggested yoga pose to balance the energy connected with the day's chakra. At night, guests enjoy an evening ritual that includes a 15-minute in-room chair massage followed by an aromatherapy steam shower or candlelit drawn bath color-coordinated with the chakra of the day, and a cup of tea.
The two-level open air Alvadora Spa, which was built in 2002, has 10 treatment areas with private gardens, an Acqua Dolce Villa with two heated stone tables under custom overhead showers, a Watsu pool with an eight-foot grotto waterfall shower, a full-service salon and a 24-hour fitness center.
The most requested treatment is the Renaissance Massage with Footbath, according to spa manager Michelle Kinney. Contact her at [email protected] or 602-977-6400.
