The Jamaica Gleaner is reporting that Jamaica-based travel marketing firm, Caribbean Tourism Investment Company Limited (CTICo), recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the provision of technological and social-media services with the World Tourism Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations.

CTICo is operated under a joint venture with Edmund Bartlett, who is the company's chairman and the former minister of tourism for Jamaica, where the company is based. CTICo is the sister company of ADS Global, an e-Contact Centre located in Montego Bay.

According to the report Ron McKay, CEO of CTICo, said that the MOU covers "a strategic partnership in all matters that concern using technological advancements to develop tourism products, and more specifically e-Tourism. It will also allow us to support the UNWTO in social media so as to strengthen the connection among members and broaden their brand and centre of influence while ensuring that CTICO participates as panel speakers at UNWTO seminars and events."

The MOU was inked at the World Travel Market in London on November 5 with UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai, McKay and Bartlett.

Both sister outfits, ADS Global and CTICo, have invested more than $1 million developing back-office operations, leasing new space, legal representation, new hires and networking at ADS Global's Montego Bay offices at the Fairview Office Centre and the Freeport.

McKay, in fact, told Travel Agent earlier this year that his company is expanding office space to accommodate the business brought CTICo. CTICo launched into business last year after months spent in product development and marketing since its conception in August 2012.

Travel Agent reported in April that CTICo undertook a partnership with social media analysts, Social Strategy 1. Social Strategy 1 is a total media intelligence service that combines natural language processing and data mining technology with subject matter-experts who analyze digital conversation to create profitable insights for its clients.
