The Resort at Pedregal has announced its lineup for the Fifth Annual Food & Wine Festival, which will be held at the resort from October 26-30. The theme will celebrate the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos and will include a lineup of star chefs. The chefs include Richard Reddingto-- executive chef at Redd and Redd Wood, both located in Yountville, in the Napa Valley Wine Region of Northern California, Dakota Weiss -- executive chef at the Sunset Strip’s new Estrella and the popular Sweetfin Poke in Santa Monica, Sonya Coté -- owner and executive chef of Hillside Farmacy, Eden East and Coté Catering in Austin, TX, and the resort’s new Executive Chef, Gustavo Pinet. The host of this year’s event is Janice Wald Henderson. She will moderate each event, drawing upon her three decades as a writer for Rhapsody, Food & Wine, Robb Report, Epicurious, Bon Appetite and Vogue. Guests will also have a chance to mingle with top sommeliers. The list includes:
Emily Wines, Master Sommelier, Skipstone Ranch, California
Arturo Lomeli, Founder, Clase Azul Tequila
Daniele Dalla Pola, Owner, Nu Lounge Bar, Bologna, Italy
Jordan Gardenhire, Founder, Baja Brewing Company
Ulysses Vidal, Mixologist, Employees Only, New York City
The event will start off with a welcome champagne reception, and the festival’s highlights include instructional seminars with a focus on fresh salsa, tequila crafting, and wine and cheese pairing. There will also be an Ocean-to-Table class that will concentrate on the preparation of ceviches, aguachiles, and tiraditos. Also, a Dia de los Muertos dinner will take its inspiration from local Mexican customs and feature musicians, food booths and artisans.
There are 140 tickets available. Guests who book early will receive a complimentary four-course dinner for two at El Farallon (usually $400) of the day’s freshest catch, accompanied by a special selection from Vinos Encinillas.
