(c) 2011 The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island

Salt at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island will continue its Winemaker Dinner series Thursday, August 11 with a four-course dinner paired with six award-winning wines from Steele Wines of Lake County, CA.

This event starts at 6 p.m. with an hors d’oeuvres reception, featuring commentary from Jed Steele, owner and winemaker.

Featured wines for the evening include Shooting Star Aligote, to be served at the reception, followed by dinner accompaniments, including the label’s Steele Stymie Merlot, and Steele Cabernet Sauvignon, to be served with the evening’s main course.

Salt’s Chef de Cuisine Rick Laughlin will prepare a special menu inspired by the rich variety of these wines. Dishes to be served will include Georgia Quail with Summer Truffle, Florida Mackerel with Basil Gnocchi, Lamb in Variations, and Peach Melba.

To celebrate this wine-centered event, the restaurant’s salt sommelier will create two special infused salts: a Stymie Merlot and a Fumee de Sel smoked from seasoned French barrels, also from the Steele winery.

Cost is $125 per person, plus gratuity. For reservations, call 904-277-1100 or visit www.ritzcarlton.com/ameliaisland.
