The Ritz Carlton, Kapalua has announced the appointment of Mike Kass to general manager of the luxury Maui resort located on the island’s northwest shore.
Kass will be responsible for the oversight and function of all resort operations, and will confidently serve as head executive to management and hotel staff.
Prior to his role as general manager, Kass served as hotel manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua since November 2014, where he oversaw the 463 rooms and suites; its restaurants, bars and related food and beverage activities; The Ritz-Carlton Spa, salon and fitness center; recreation programs; Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment; resort retail; banquets and catering; destination weddings; and property engineering and technology.
A veteran in the hospitality industry, Kass has more than 25 years of experience and has been with the Ritz Carlton brand since 2011. Before making the move to Maui, he served as hotel manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain in Arizona and the leader of the resort’s sales and marketing division. Among his achievements during his time there, Kass repositioned all property marketing, promoted the launch of The Dove Mountain Rangers Program, increased leisure and group sales, expanded the destination weddings program, and helped to grow top-line revenues for the property’s rooms, catering, food and beverage and spa divisions.
Kass will be at the helm of the resort’s multi-million-dollar renovation that is currently underway. The resort has just unveiled redesigned Residential Suites; a new beachfront restaurant The Burger Shack; all new lounge chairs, sunbeds and palapas at the expansive 10,000 square foot, three-tier swimming pool and 20,000 square foot sundeck; and an enhanced lobby lanai experience with fire pits, casual lounge seating and a brand new bar and cocktail menu.
