Mayakoba on the Yucatan Peninsula continues to grow as a tourist destination, and it doesn’t look like the momentum will die off anytime soon.
Among the resorts set to open at the ecological enclave are the Mandarin Oriental Mayakoba, the Banyantree at Mayakoba and the Viceroy Mayakoba. Coming up soon, the Rosewood Mayakoba will have a soft opening in late December and be fully operational on February 1. Rosewood Mayakoba will be situated along a mile of beach on the Riviera Maya, encompassing several small islands surrounded by a mangrove jungle at the heart of the of Mayakoba. The spa occupies a private island with a cenote, a natural limestone pool fed by subterranean springs. The resort also will offer play on a championship 18-hole Greg Norman golf course, tennis facilities and lectures about ancient Mayan culture and the Yucatan ecosystem.
