Sacramento Airport Hotel – To Be or Not to Be?

While the Sacramento International Airport's billion dollar expansion project is still on track, the fate of the new airport hotel hangs in the balance. Original plans call for a 184-room hotel linked to the new terminal building so that passengers can check into rooms without ever stepping outside (although stepping outside in Cali is rarely unpleasant).

Cash for construction has to be borrowed up front and we all know how hard it is nowadays to turn on that tap. The new terminal's foundation is already being laid, so a decision has to be made pronto. If the hotel is scrapped, there are other options to build off-site 1.5 miles from the airport. Then again, there’s always digs downtown, where you’ll be close to what passes for action in sleepy Sacramento.
