San Francisco Restaurant Promotion to Celebrate 10th Year

San FranciscoNext month, the Bay Area will host the 10th year of Dine About Town San Francisco. January 15-31, 2011, more than 100 of San Francisco's finest restaurants will offer two-course lunches for $17.95 or three-course dinners for $34.95. Launched by the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (SFCVB) in 2002 to stimulate restaurant revenue after 9/11, the event, featuring à la carte menu items at up to 25 percent off, evolved into a bi-annual event in 2006.

Online at San Francisco's official visitor website, the complete restaurant list includes 14 new restaurants join the mix, among them Hana Zen Sushi & Yakitoria Bar, Marlowe, Mayes, Ristorante Specchio and Skool. Restaurants that have been part of the event since its inception include Cosmopolitan, Forbes Island, Fringale and Silks.

Dates and times of participation will differ by restaurant. A la carte menus will also be on hand. Reservations are encouraged and can be made online through a partnership with OpenTable.com or by calling 415-391-2000. Celebrating the event, the Dine About Town Launch Party will take place January 12, 2011. Participating restaurants will feature tastes from their Dine About Town menus and guests will be able to sample wines from the Bay Area and beyond.

"For the past decade, Dine About Town has succeeded in achieving its primary goal -- to increase restaurant revenue during a two-week time period after the holidays which was identified by our members to typically be slow,” said Joe D'Alessandro, president and CEO of SFCVB.
