Singapore Sun Festival Kicks off Today

Touted as “Asia’s premier lifestyle festival,” “Singapore Sun Festival 2009” opened today at The Fullerton Hotel.  Over the next 10 days, from October 3-12, 90 events will take place celebrating the “art of living well.”

This year’s events include a ballet performance, music concerts, discussions with leading literary figures, food and wine tastings, film screenings, and wellness programs.

“Our aim is to deliver world-class music and lifestyle events to audiences in Asia, and position Singapore as a truly global entertainment, arts and lifestyle destination," stated Global President and COO of IMG Artists, Jeffrey Fuhrman.

Today’s opening ceremonies will take place at the Esplanade Concert Hall and will feature dancers from The Bolshoi Theatre and Marjinsky Theatre.  Other notable performances will include a concert by the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, music by cellist Nina Kotova, and a piano performance by 14-year old child prodigy Conrad Tao.

Later in the ten-day celebration Elvis Costello will perform along the waterfront, followed by the Cuban ensemble Afro Cuban All stars.  Guests looking for a more relaxed atmosphere can also sip wine while attending literature talks by Nobel Price Winner Wole Soyinka and several of Singapore’s leading playwrights.
