Travel Agent's Grand Class room at Grand Velas Riviera Maya

Travel Agent is currently wrapping up our coverage of one of Mexico’s trendiest hot spots – Grand Velas Riviera Maya resort. This spa lover’s dream is also home to a host of other impressive amenities such as top shelf, premium liquor included in the all-inclusive package and plunge pools with ocean views in select room categories.

Travel Agent is currently staying in room no. 2068, a Grand Class room. The bathroom in this room is about the average size of a New York City apartment and come with a Jacuzzi and a rain shower head located in the ceiling. The exclusive Grand Class adult-only area of the resort is designed for optimum privacy and relaxation and features 90 ocean-view suites with private plunge pools, in-room massage tables, two Jacuzzis and modern conveniences such as wireless Internet and more.

Travel Agent was also able to take a tour of the resort's much praised Grand Velas Riviera Spa, which was named "Best Spa in the World," by Virtuoso in 2010. Set amid the resort's surrounding jungle, the spa is enormous, encompassing roughly 89,305 square feet containing 40 treatment suites appointed with native art work and separate hydrotherapy facilities for men and women. The menu includes massage therapies for men, women and couples, body treatments and wraps, facials, and the unqiue Riviera Maya Water Journey. The Riviera Maya Water Journey takes clients through a revitalizing hydrotherapy ritual that invigorates the body, soothes aching muscles, detoxifies impurities and promotes health and wellbeing. The Riviera Maya Water Journey is designed for relaxation and calm, so clients are encourages to rest between hydrotherapy stations in a comfortable lounge chair, enjoy a refreshing beverage and the soothing effects of a cool facial towel.

As far as occupancy goes, the resort attracts a healthy mix of couple and families and it appears as though the corporate business is coming back as employees of financial firm, Edward Jones Investments, are currently enjoying the resort’s meeting facilities.
