Here's the buzz on a newly renovated hotel right in the heart of Puerto Vallarta's Old Town. Travel Agent is on location in Mexico this week and we've just checked out a great boutique hotel just one block from the beach.
Hotel Villa Mercedes (www.hotelvillamercedes.com) is a 14-room (including studios, junior suites and penthouses), newly renovated boutique hotel just a few minutes walk from Playa Muertos, Puerto Vallarta's Malecon boardwalk, and the famous gay district's Blue Chairs.
We are staying in suite #108, which has a balcony, king-size bed, flatscreen TV and spacious bathroom. The hotel has a sun terrace as well as its own pool and is connected with popular local restaurant Maia.
This is a great suggestion for travelers who want to be in the heart of Puerto Vallarta's restaurants and nightlife. It is a considerable distance from the famous hotel zone, but it is in the hopping center of beach and nightlife in the city.
While your clients are in town, suggest that they camp out early at one of the popular beach restaurants like Si Señor or Langostinos, where they can order buckets of icy beer, tasty Mexican cuisine and take in the sun for the entire day. They can also walk along the famous Malecon boardwalk and witness street performers, pop into the nightclubs and restaurants or sit and watch the sun set over the Pacific Ocean.
