Sonesta International has taken over the former B Fort Lauderdale hotel at 999 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. The move comes after Hospitality Properties Trust purchased the hotel and reflagged it as a Sonesta, which also has a hotel in Coconut Beach.
The Sonesta Fort Lauderdale has 240 rooms. The resort also has 8,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, either for corporate gatherings or social events. This includes a penthouse level meeting room with floor-to-ceiling windows and Atlantic views as well as an oceanfront terrace.
Major upgrades are not yet planned; management also expressed plans to retain most of the staff.

The resort is located at the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and Route A1A and is close to all of Fort Lauderdale’s numerous boutiques, eateries and nightlife as well as Hollywood International Airport. Noted attractions include Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District featuring museums and international art galleries, Las Olas Boulevard, Broward Center for Performing Arts and Port Everglades, a major departure point for coastal and oceanic cruises. Those guests with vehicles can utilize the property’s 600 car garage.
