According to a recent article in the website South Africa: The Good News, the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism has established a new national park in South Africa as part of a long-term strategy to expand protected areas in the country.
The Garden Route National Park, which will straddle both the Eastern and Western Cape Provinces, will consist of newly proclaimed land as well as exiting Wilderness and Tsitsikamma National Parks.
According to the article, 411 million rand has been invested in the infrastructure development for parks between July 2006 and September 2008.
