Earlier this week, Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced its plans to bring the first W Hotel to India: W Mumbai. This announcement comes in conjunction with the news that the hotel company will lengthen its lead with more four and five star hotels in India with the opening of seven additional hotels in 2011. This will up the number in their portfolio to 37 by year's end. Other key openings include Le Meridien Coimbatore and Sheraton Bangalore Hotel.
Starwood plans to operate 50 hotels in India by the end of 2012 and, by 2015, the company plans to have 100 hotels open or in development.
