Due to the ongoing eruption of Mount Merapi in Indonesia, the Department of State is alerting U.S. citizens to possible travel disruptions in the area.
According to the State Department, the eruption has caused cancellations of flights to and from Jakarta and other airports near the volcano.
Travelers are advised to carry extra funds, make contingency plans and purchase travel insurance. This alert will expire on December 31.
