Strike Ends in Martinique

Madeleine de Grandmaison, chairwoman of the Martinique Tourism Authority issued a statement Friday celebrating the end of a nearly three-week strike on the island that resulted in violence. “It gives me great pleasure to confirm the official end to the general strike in Martinique,” de Grandmaison said in a written release. “The island’s shops and schools have re-opened, and life for the general population is quickly returning back to normal.”
