Sun International Adds Property in Lagos, Nigeria to Portfolio

Sun International Hotels & Resorts has announced the addition of the 150-room Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria, to its portfolio. The property, which is on Victoria Island— the business center of Lagos— is owned by The Tourist Company of Nigeria PLC and will be a joint venture between Sun International and Ikeja Hotels PLC.

Suited for business travelers, the property offers eight conference rooms and an executive business center. The hotel underwent a $10 million soft refurbishment and all rooms feature king-size beds and flat-screen LCD TVs. Refurbishment of the linked 224-room Federal Palace Towers Hotel will begin in January 2009. The planned renovation of the hotel, along with the spa and meeting and business center will cost approximately $150-million.
