Thailand Buzzes With Songkran Splendors Festival

Thailand is buzzing now with color and pomp in celebration of the Songkran Splendors Festival, which highlights the Thai New Year celebrations and symbolizes the end of a 12-month cycle and the beginning of a new year. The festival kicked off April 6 and will run through April 24, hosting dozens of cultural events in 12 cities across Thailand.

Clients who head to Bangkok between April 9 and 17 can visit the Royal Temples such as Wat Phra Kaeo, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Wat Ratchaorasaram and Wat Ratchaphradit, among others. Nagaraphirom Park will be alive with culinary treats and cultural performances.

In Chiang Mai travelers can participate in the Opening Ceremony of the Songkran Festival with a procession around the city on April 12.

Clients are encouraged to travel to Sukhothai between April 11 and 15 when visitors can ride elephants, experience the food fair and shop for handmade products.
