Top 3 Caribbean Food and Wine Festivals to Recommend

wineIn a joint effort between several luxury resorts and select restaurants, Turks and Caicos Islands will hold its second annual Caribbean Food and Wine Festival from November 1 to 3, 2012.

The festival will bring together some of the island's well-known culinary creations with wine makers and chefs from the United States. Chef John DeLucie is will headline the welcome dinner with wine and food pairings from Tuck Beckstoffer, Duck Pond Cellars, Terlato Wines and La Sirena Wines. There will also be tasting events throughout the weekend, featuring the “Street Food Fair.”

Hosted by Travel + Leisure's features director and special correspondent, Nilou Motamed, Barbados wil be holding its own Food and Wine and Rum Festival from November 16 to 20, 2012.

The third annual festival will be headlined by Chef Marcus Samuelsson, who will lead a group of international talent that includes Food Network stars Anne Burrell and Aaron McCargo Jr.

Also participating for the first time in the event are Chef Stephanie Izard and wine expert Joshua Wesson, who will join returning chefs Mark McEwan of Canada and Barbadian-born Paul Yellin, who now based in New York.

The local representing restaurants for the 2012 Festival includes: Mark DeGruchy of Cafe Luna; Glen Bent of Cariba Restaurant; Jemma Oneal of Cafe Sol Mexican Grill and Margarita Bar; Carsten Flindt of Patisserie and Bistro Flindt; Dan Brinckmann, Temptations Bakery; Barry Taylor, Naru Restaurant and Lounge; and Romeo Moscardini of Spago Restaurant and Bar.

The Bajan Fiesta will be the main event for Barbadian chefs and members of the Barbados Chef team that represented at “Taste of the Caribbean” will demonstrate their culinary skills for locals and visitors. The Bajan Fiesta line-up includes Angela Garraway-Holland, Wilwore Jordan, Mitchell Husbands, Henderson Butcher, Janelle Crawford, Julian Broome, Creig Greenidge, Michelle Maloney and mixologist Jamaal Bowen.
