The Marais area of Paris is known for having some of the top contemporary art galleries in the city, similar to Chelsea in New York. We have put together a list of galleries along with their new show openings for fall of 2015.

Alain Chiglien (French) and Roger Nilsson (Swedish) started NEC as a Swedish mid-century furniture gallery, later placing art on the walls. The art shows became so popular they added a second gallery just to showcase artists. Galerie NEC specializes in ceramic art and their stable of artists include Vincent Gagliostro, Gregoire Scalabre, Wouter Dam, Michael Geersten, Karin Tornell, and Thomas Humery

Almine Rech 

With galleries in London, Brussels and Paris, Almine Rech has become one of the leading galleries of Europe. Opening in the early 90s with just one artist, the gallery now represents some of the most respected world artists and also develops rising new talent. Thaddaeus Ropac

Establishing his gallery in 1983 in his hometown of Salzburg, Austria, Thaddaeus Ropac opened the Marais space in 1990 and added a larger space in Paris in Paris suburb Pantin. Thaddaeus Ropac represents George Baselitz, Alex Katz, Robert Longo, Gilbert & George, Yan Pei-Ming, and Antony Gormly. He also represents the estates of Robert Rauschenberg, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Andy Warhol

Karsten Greve

Studying art history in college in his native Cologne, Karsten Greve has long been an art dealer, starting his first gallery in Cologne in 1973. Greve has expanded his galleries with locations in Paris and St. Moritz. Artists include Louise Bourgeois, David Smith, Cy Twombly, Manish Nai, Catherine Lee, John Chamberlain, Willem De Kooning, Sally Mann, and Piero Manzoni

Galerie Perrotin
