Top New York Travel Tips for Father's Day Weekend

New York City skyline. NYC & Company has recently launched a New York City itinerary for this upcoming Father’s Day Weekend. The list suggested by the company includes new events at museums, sporting venues, shopping districts and more that are taking place around New York’s five boroughs. 

Families looking to celebrate Father’s Day at one of the city’s museums can visit the new Whitney Museum of American Art in the Meatpacking District or the new Peopling of America Center at Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration. The Brooklyn Museum’s recent Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks exhibit can also be visited anytime between now and August 23. 

New York Botanical Gardens is also showing its Art, Garden, Life exhibit featuring works by renowned artist Frida Kahlo. Families interested in nature may also visit the American Museum of Natural History’s Life at the Limits: Stories of Amazing Species exhibit. 

Sports fans can enjoy an action-packed Father’s Day Weekend in New York City. On Friday June 19, New York Liberty is playing Indiana Fever at Madison Square Garden. The Yankees will also be playing the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium June 19, 20 and 21. 

Dads who enjoy golfing can play at any of New York’s courses, including the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point, Van Cortlandt Golf Course and Forest Park Golf Course. The Central Park Conservancy is also offering a free walking tour on Father’s Day throughout the park for active families. 

Families looking to shop can visit the new Brookfield Place, which features OMEGA, Salvatore Ferragamo, Paul Smith and Saks Fifth Avenue. Fathers can also visit the popup Tesla Design Studio at The Shops at Columbus Circle
