Travel Agent Arrives at Paradisus Cancun

I'm a glass half full kind of gal, myself. So, while it might have been pouring when I touched down in Cancun yesterday morning, all I could do was feel grateful that I was no longer in New York, where the high has been 19 degrees.

We just arrived today at the newly reopened (and rebranded) Paradisus Cancun. Up until December 1, 2012 the resort operated as a Gran Melia resort but has since been repurposed as a Paradisus, Melia's luxury all-inclusive brand.

We are staying in the exclusive pyramid #5, which has been deemed the "Royal Service" area. This enclave takes the luxury aspect of the resort to the next level (think white glove service, personal butlers, private swimming pool and private lounge). We loved it because it is removed from the somewhat noisier family sections of the resort, which is typically the name of the game at all Cancun properties.

Upon arrival we were whisked off to our room, #5222, which faces the ocean. Although skies were gray and rain pelted our private balcony, we couldn't help but smile thinking of that deep tissue massage that was forthcoming at YHI Spa.

Pampered and pleased, a tequila tasting followed our spa treatment. What better way to complete the relaxation of a spa treatment with a lesson on Mexico's favorite beverage?

The rest of our itinerary looks like it encompasses everything the resort has to offer, and we are excited to see what other luxury surprises unfold.

Stay tuned for more updates.
