Jena Tesse Fox, staff editor for Europe, Australia, South Pacific, Hawaii and Africa for Travel Agent magazine, has won the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) Travel Media Award 2012 for her coverage of Destination Tanzania and the Southern Circuit.

The TTB created the Tanzania Tourism Awards in May 2000 to promote and show appreciation to travel professionals and media who promote and sell Tanzania in the U.S. market, the TTB said. One of the TTB’s objectives was to promote the Southern Circuit, an area the TTB describes as “the travel connoisseur’s best kept secret.”

This year marks the 12th anniversary of the awards. The Travel Media Award 2012 was presented by the Hon. Amb. Khamis S. Kagasheki, Tanzania’s minister of natural resources and tourism. Also at the presentation were Mr. Ibrahim Mussa, director of tourism, Tanzania's Ministry of Natural Resources & Tourism and Dr. Aloyce K. Nzuki, managing director, Tanzania Tourist Board.
