Two New Hotels Open in Paris

The City of Light is welcoming two new places for travelers to rest their heads this year. Both are bringing buzz with their design and style.

The new Villa & Hotel Majestic opened this month on Paris’s 16th arondissement, home to the Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Elysées. The hotel has 52 guestrooms and suites, the MajClub Wellness Centre, Le Premium Bar and a restaurant.

In the Villa, the interiors combine what our sources described as "classic French style" with contemporary abstract artwork and furnishings. The 27 spacious villa accommodations are equipped with kitchenettes including an oven, refrigerator, washing machine, coffee maker, and cooking and dining utensils, making it the ideal choice for extended stays. Many accommodations have extended private landscaped terraces (very rare in Paris).

The MajClub Wellness Centre features the exclusive “Clé des Champs,” an organic line of products and treatments inspired by traditional Chinese medicine that reflect the changing seasons. Founder Céline Claret Coquet has also created an innovative face lifting treatment though the use of acupuncture and gold needles, exclusive to the MajClub.

Villa & Hotel Majestic rates begin at $693 per room, per night.  Rates include tax and service charges.  For more information, visit

Always keeping our ears out for the latest hotel gossip from Paris, we were struck by the quirky descriptions of the upcoming Hotel Le Seven, located in the Latin Quarter of the 5th Arrondissement, about a 10-minute walk from the Luxembourg gardens. (The 28-room hotel is the sibling of the The Five Hotel in the same neighborhood, and is scheduled to open in April.)

And when we say quirky, we mean quirky. The beds are designed to look like they're floating, and are illuminated from below. The bathtubs are only a foot off the floor, and showers are glass boxes in the bedrooms. Even the ceilings are exciting, with several designed to look like the night sky. There are themed suites to honor such culture icons as 007 himself (retro, with lots of cool gadgets) and Marie Antoinette (white leather bedspread and pink fiberoptic lights).

Exciting touch: Guests willing to take a chance on the hotel sight unseen can stay there as soon as the doors open (bragging rights!) at a 30 percent discount.
