Vietnam is opening up its southern Mekong region to international air travelers, according to the Associated Press. State media is reporting that Vietnam has opened a new international airport in Can Tho.
Service began on New Year's Day and the runway is able to accommodate long-haul jets. According to the AP, the airport is designed to receive up to five million messengers per year.
This terminal is an expansion on the domestic airport that welcomed 210,000 passengers last year.
