Virgin Atlantic to Vote on Strike Action

The Wall Street Journal and other sources are reporting that the British Airline Pilots' Association, or BALPA, will poll Virgin Atlantic's pilots on whether they should take strike action over pay.

It said it will start balloting pilots on May 24 and the process would take four weeks. If the pilots vote in favor of a strike, the union will then need to give Virgin Atlantic seven days' notice of any industrial action.

The two sides have been quietly in conflict since 2010 and despite the involvement of the conciliation service ACAS, pilots in Virgin Atlantic have been unable to reach agreement with the airline on an overdue pay and conditions settlement.
