Waikiki Edition Joins Virtuoso

Just a few weeks after the hotel was part of a lawsuit, The Waikiki Edition, the first of its brand and a collaboration between Marriott and legendary hotelier Ian Schrager, has joined the Virtuoso travel network. In joining the network, The Waikiki Edition will now be available as a resort option to more than 300  travel agencies across 22 countries.

“The Waikiki Edition brings a completely new look and feel to Hawaii,” Albert Herrera, Vice President of Hotels, Destinations & Tours for Virtuoso told Travel Agent. “It appeals to the sensibilities of a client who’s looking for a lifestyle that mirrors his everyday style and comfort level.” Herrera specifically praises the hotel’s dining options, design and what the service style he describes as “relaxed.”

“Ultimately, it’s these unique characteristics that we consider when adding another property to our portfolio,” Herrera continues. “How will it benefit our members and will it appeal to their clients? We felt The Waikiki Edition offered something different.” Additionally, he adds, the Edition has desirable amenities, including full breakfast for two guests served in-room daily plus a $100 resort credit, exclusively for Virtuoso. “This allows our advisors to be more competitive in the market, which is also a strong consideration when bringing on a new property.”

Herrera does not seem concerned about the lawsuit or its implications. “While the lawsuit is unfortunate for all involved, it will not impact our relationship with The Waikiki Edition at this time, nor will it change how we sell it,” he said.
