London Underground Workers to Strike

The Belfast Telegraph is reporting that some 10,000  London Underground workers are planning a series of strikes next month in a fight over job cuts.

The Rail Maritime and Transport Union announced in a statement that maintenance and engineering staff will begin their first 24-hour strike at 5 p.m. locatl time on September 6, with others at the same time on Sunday, October 3; Tuesday, November 2, and Sunday, November 28. Other LUL grades (including station and revenue staff, operational managers, drivers and signallers) will start their first 24-hour strike at 9 p.m. on Monday, September 6, with with others at the same time on the same days as the other strikers. The Transport Salaried Staffs Association is following suit.
