Europe Tour Operator Looks at Small Group Booking Trends

Europe Express is reporting an increase in the company’s small group travel bookings. Small groups, those with 8-15 travelers, represent 42 percent of the company’s total group travel business in 2012, a significant increase from the previous year.

Europe Express’ small groups are predominately fit into three different categories. Friends and family leisure groups make up 38 percent of small group bookings while pre- and post-cruise reservations make up an additional 30 percent of small groups. Student and university groups represent 25 percent of bookings. The itineraries usually incorporate educational curriculum and often have specific visits and tours planned to go with the course of study.

The most popular destinations for small group travel are Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, France, and Ireland.
