Italian National Tourist Board Launches Advisor Training Site

With Americans now being able travel quarantine free to Italy via COVID-tested flights, and Air Canada announcing they will offer COVID-tested flights to Rome as of July 2, demand to visit Italy is building quickly. Perfectly timed for this, the Italian National Tourist Board launched earlier this month its “Travel to Italy Academy” advisor training site.

Created and managed by the Italian National Tourist Board, this online training course provides travel advisors with the inspiration, knowledge and confidence to create unforgettable itineraries to sell (and upsell) clients for their trips to the land of “La Dolce Vita.”

By becoming an “Italian Travel Specialist,” travel advisors will expand their knowledge and expertise of the country, including discovering off-the-beaten-track destinations; they will also be kept up to date with the latest news and information from the Italian National Tourist Board. Modules include those such as “Italy’s Art Cities,” “Food and Wine,” “Getting Around,” “Italy’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites” and “Outdoor and Active Holidays,” among others.

Upon completion of the course, advisors receive the designation of “Italy Specialist” along with a certificate to prove to clients that they are experts in the destination. In terms of Academy benefits, those who have completed the course will be amongst the priority pool considered for FAM programs. Other benefits are still being developed (as it’s a new program for the tourist board).

Travelers from the United States may currently visit Italy; however at least through July 30, they will have to self-isolate for 10 days upon arrival. Travelers must also fill out a Digital Passenger Locator Form and prove that you have undergone a molecular or antigenic test, carried out by means of a swab, with negative result, in the 72 hours before you arrive. As soon as they enter the national territory, they must inform their local health authority of reference. Additionally, travelers must only use private means of transportation to reach your final destination within Italy. Following the 10 days of quarantine, travelers must take another molecular or antigenic test.

Travel advisors may sign up for the Italy Specialist program at www.traveltoitalyacademy.com. For the latest on travel to Italy, visit www.italia.it.
