Let's hope it's finally over. First, the majority of airspace in Europe was closed due to volcanic ash from Iceland. Then things seemed to get better by April 20, as British Airways flights began to depart for London. But the freedom did not last too long as, earlier in the week, airspace was once again closed over parts of Northern Europe. Now, according to the New York Times, it appears all airports and all airspace shall remain open.
According to the Times, the Eyjafjallajokull volcano spread more ash on Tuesday and Wednesday— canceling about 550 flights and shutting down operations at airports in Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland for most of Wednesday. By 10 a.m. local time Thursday, the airports reopened.
