The Daily Mail is reporting that Lufthansa has canceled nearly 200 flights due to strikes, leaving thousands of passengers stranded.
The German carrier canceled 190 flights at Frankfurt Airport today, as cabin crew staged an industrial action over pay and working conditions.
The eight-hour walkout will affect flights between London and Frankfurt, which is one of Europe's main hub airports. Lufthansa had originally believed it would only need to cancel 64 flights.
Frankfurt airport, Germany's busiest, was also closed to inbound flights from Europe for several hours due to congestion.
On its website, the airline stated: "The Independent Flight Attendants Organisation (UFO) has again called cabin crews to strike on Tuesday, 4 September 2012, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Frankfurt and from 1:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. (midnight) at Munich airports (all German local time)."
